SCoBAL Project holds its 6th Coordination Meeting

The Sixth Coordination Meeting was held online for the pilot bar associations on 22 September 2021, under the Joint Project on “Strengthening the Capacity of Bar Associations and Lawyers on European Human Rights Standards (SCoBAL)”.

The meeting brought together representatives of the pilot Bar Associations and the Union of Turkish Bar Association (UTBA) with the service provider company that developed an IT tool aiming at improving communication among Human Rights Centres in local bar associations and their communication with the Human Rights Centre of the UTBA.

Following the opening speeches of Mr İzzet Varan, chair of the UTBA Human Rights Centre and Mr Sergey Dikman, CoE Programme Coordinator, the participants were briefed on how and why to use the IT Tool, which is currently in the testing phase for UTBA Human Rights Centre and Human Rights Centres in local bar associations. Local bar associations exchanged information about the current situation and activities of their Centres and the IT Tool.

The Joint Project on "Strengthening the Capacity of Bar Associations and Lawyers on European Human Rights Standards (SCoBAL)" is implemented by the Council of Europe, and co-funded by the European Union, the Republic of Turkey and the Council of Europe. The Union of Turkish Bar Associations is the end beneficiary of the Project. The Central Finance and Contracting Unit is the contracting authority.
