2nd Coordination Meeting of the Pilot Bar Associations

On 30 September – 1 October 2019 in Ankara, a Coordination Meeting of the pilot bar associations was held.

The lawyers discussed the ways to reach the short term targets under the Action Plan of the Human Rights Centers developed by the Project for both the UTBA and the pilot bar associations.

On 30 September – 1 October 2019 in Ankara, a Coordination Meeting of the pilot bar associations was held. This is the second such meeting organised by the Council of Europe under the Joint Project on Strengthening the Capacity of Bar Associations and Lawyers on European Human Rights Standards (SCoBAL). The meeting brought together representatives of pilot bar associations and the Union of Turkish Bar Association (UTBA). The participants of the event exchanged on the monitoring of the Project’s implementation, as well as other related topics and shared their respective experience.

The lawyers discussed the ways to reach the short term targets under the Action Plan of the Human Rights Centers developed by the Project for both the UTBA and the pilot bar associations.

The exchange at the meeting also touched upon training methodology and materials developed under the Project, in particular trainer handbooks, which provide guidelines on both content and interactive methodology of the trainings. These materials will be finalised in line with the proposals.

Under the Project, the Union of Turkish Bar Association together with the Council of Europe are planning to provide training for 5.000 lawyers on human rights issues across Turkey.
